Be captured by the rhythms of Umbaqanga, traditional Southern African music with a catchy contemporary feel - an unforgettable night of dance.
Chris Gudu’s up tempo and exuberant music is what is often referred to as 'Township Jive Music' and is better known in Southern Africa as Umbaqanga music which sometimes presents a touch of Afro jazz. Umbaqanga music originates from the streets and sheebeens of Soweto, spreading all through and across Southern Africa. When describing his style of music, Chris says "When you listen to the music, it doesn’t tell you to sit down and listen- it tells you to get up and dance!".
Chris Gudu's line-up features a combination of African and Australian musicians. The Chris Gudu performance is worth experiencing, not just once but over and over again. As Chris says “I live to perform live. There’s a real closeness, an interaction, a sharing. The groove is magic!”
